From August 19th to 24th, 2024, St. Andrew’s School in Turi, Nakuru, Kenya, hosted the prestigious East Africa Student Convention (EASC), a hallmark event for schools and homeschoolers using the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) program. This event serves as a platform where students from East Africa can nurture, develop, and showcase their talents in a supportive and enabling environment. This year, the convention attracted 19 schools from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, with 646 participants taking part in various activities.

Among the standout participants was Dawnitza Mushabe, a grade 8 student from Vine International Christian Academy in Uganda. Dawnitza’s performance at the convention was nothing short of exceptional, as she earned five medals across multiple categories. She competed in Lawn Tennis, Large Vocal Ensemble, Golden Apple Award, Large Instrumental Ensemble, and Computer Photographic Enhancement, displaying her remarkable versatility and talent.

Dawnitza’s hard work paid off in Lawn Tennis, where she won a silver medal, showcasing her dedication and athleticism. In the Large Vocal Ensemble, she contributed to her group’s impressive performance, earning another silver medal. Her skills extended beyond the stage to the digital realm, where she secured a silver medal in Computer Photographic Enhancement, demonstrating her creativity and technical prowess.

She also shone in music, earning a silver medal in the Large Instrumental Ensemble category and receiving the prestigious Golden Apple Award, a recognition that highlights exceptional student performance and contribution.

Reflecting on her achievements, Dawnitza expressed her gratitude to the Lord for the success she experienced, attributing it to her hard work, commitment, and resilience. “I trained so hard in Lawn Tennis. I would practice after school, sometimes late into the night. I am glad it has paid off,” she said, emphasizing her dedication to excelling in all her endeavors.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of Dawnitza’s experience at the EASC was the presence of her family, whose support helped build her confidence and motivation throughout the competition. “Being accompanied by my family gave me the confidence I needed. Their encouragement meant a lot,” she remarked, as she proudly held her medals.

Her mother, Doreen Rutazaana Mushabe, expressed her immense pride and admiration for her daughter’s dedication and spiritual growth. “I have seen my daughter grow into a responsible, God-fearing, resilient, and self-driven girl. Watching her train diligently, even during late hours, while still maintaining her academic balance, is truly commendable,” Doreen shared, reflecting on Dawnitza’s journey to success.

The EASC is more than just a competition; it is an avenue for students like Dawnitza to use their God-given talents in ways that glorify Him while promoting personal growth and spiritual development. Music, sports, technology, and other gifts are nurtured in an atmosphere that encourages students to explore their potential.

For Dawnitza, the 2024 EASC was not just an event but a testament to her dedication, hard work, and faith. As she continues her educational journey, this experience will serve as a foundation for even greater accomplishments in the future, inspiring others to follow in her footsteps and use their talents for God’s glory.
