Kampala, Uganda – DFCU Bank has pledged UGX 1 billion to support Rotary-led health initiatives across Uganda, marking a major step in tackling some of the country’s biggest health challenges. The announcement was made during the launch of the Rotary Club of Kampala Blue Hearts, Uganda’s first-ever corporate-based Rotary Club, held on Saturday, 30th August 2025, at DFCU Towers in Nakasero.

The new club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kampala, is designed to give busy professionals an opportunity to serve their communities while balancing their demanding work schedules. Its first President, Rtn. Marjorie Namayalo, was officially installed during the ceremony.

Speaking at the launch, Charles Mudiwa, DFCU Bank Managing Director and CEO, highlighted the Bank’s commitment to creating a healthier future:

“We are delighted to partner with Rotary in tackling some of Uganda’s biggest health challenges. This pledge reinforces our purpose of transforming lives and demonstrates the power of collaboration in building a healthier future for our communities.”

The funds, to be disbursed over three years, will go towards addressing major barriers to healthcare access such as high costs, limited drug availability, shortage of medical expertise, and long travel distances to health facilities.

Past District Governor Xavier Francis Sentamu, who represented District Governor Geoffrey Martin Kituuka, welcomed the partnership and praised the innovation of Uganda’s first corporate Rotary club.

“This collaboration with DFCU Bank and the launch of the Rotary Club of Kampala Blue Hearts are powerful examples of the shared vision of creating a healthier Uganda and a better world,” he said.

With this milestone, Rotary District 9213 expressed optimism that the partnership between DFCU and the new Rotary Club will inspire more organizations to join in advancing healthcare and strengthening communities.

The launch also symbolizes Uganda’s growing corporate involvement in community development, as businesses increasingly align with initiatives that foster social responsibility and long-term impact.
