A Career of Grit, Creativity, and Impact
Doreen began her journey in the marketing and communications world in advertising agencies, where she worked with leading brands in telecommunications, social security, insurance, beauty and financial services. Over time, she earned recognition for bringing clarity and impact to brand campaigns, for listening to what stakeholders need, and for elevating internal culture as much as strategic public positioning.
She led marketing and communication efforts that helped steer one of the government banks through transformation into a tier one (1) commercial bank, accelerating a 22% growth in profitability, and brand repositioning. Now, as Head of Marketing and Communications at Housing Finance Bank, she positions new products, refining internal and external communications, guiding stakeholder relations, and ensuring that each message brings value to the business.
Engaging Communities and Leading Social Impact
For Doreen, marketing is about more than adverts or campaigns. She believes in using her platform to serve communities, to engage with the stories of everyday people, and to spark change. She has led farmers’ forums across districts, bringing together farmers, financial experts, and institutional partners to exchange ideas, access support, and grow their livelihoods. She has also contributed to efforts to champion family wellbeing through the Zimba Mpola Mpola (Incremental Housing Loan) solution enabling home ownership especially for low-income earner, partnering with national forums and institutions to amplify messages that strengthen family resilience, education, and access to affordable housing.
She is well known for balancing her demanding professional roles with personal growth habits. She invests in self-care, learning and staying present with family and friends. She understands that sustainable leadership requires both drive and rest, both ambition and reflection.
