The company has announced that from December 15 on, several Apple iPhone models and some of the latest Samsung Smartphones, eSim will be supported. Customers will also be able to use the eSim connection with selected AppleWatch models.

MTN also confirmed that Apple’s the latest iPhone 12 will be also supported once the device is being launched in South Africa by the end of the year.

eSims are a big improvement for both providers and customers. Customers do not need to replace physical SIM cards anymore when getting a new contract. Furthermore eSIM makes it possible to use multiple SIM profiles on a single device.

“The digital journey of MTN customers takes another leap forward with the addition of embedded SIM (eSIM) connections on selected smartphones this month and the inclusion of eSIM connections for selected Apple smartwatches from 15 December 2020,” said MTN, according to MyBroadband.
