Centenary Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to community development by contributing UGX 86 million to the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to support two key initiatives: the Kampala City Festivals and the Weyonje sanitation campaign.

The funds were officially handed over to a KCCA delegation led by the Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki. Out of the total contribution, UGX 50 million will go towards the Kampala City Festival, while UGX 36 million has been earmarked for the Weyonje Campaign, which promotes proper sanitation and environmental cleanliness in the city.

Celebrating Culture and Talent

Speaking during the handover, Hajjat Buzeki applauded Centenary Bank for being among the first partners to support the redesigned Kampala City Festival.

“Centenary Bank has always been a reliable partner. Their contribution is not just financial—it shows commitment to uniting communities through culture, talent, and inclusivity,” she said.

She added that partnerships like these foster a vibrant, welcoming, and progressive city for all residents and visitors.

Bank’s Commitment to Responsible Growth

Centenary Bank’s Executive Director, Joseph Balikuddembe, stated the institution’s mission to transform lives beyond financial services.

“True growth comes through responsible stewardship. We remain committed to building a cleaner, healthier, and more inclusive Kampala,” Balikuddembe noted.

He highlighted that the bank’s participation as a Gold Sponsor reflects its broader vision of promoting sustainable development and community well-being.

Why It Matters

The Kampala City Festival has become one of Uganda’s most celebrated cultural events, attracting thousands of participants and showcasing local talent, innovation, and creativity. It returns for the first time in 7 years having been stopped in 2018 due to budgetary constraints. On the other hand, the Weyonje Campaign plays a critical role in improving sanitation, reducing health risks, and creating a cleaner city environment.

By supporting both initiatives, Centenary Bank is not only investing in the economy but also reinforcing its role as a partner in social transformation and urban development.

Looking Ahead

With this contribution, Centenary Bank continues to position itself as more than a financial institution—it is a partner in building a sustainable and inclusive Kampala, one where culture, health, and economic opportunity go hand in hand.
