Roke Telkom proudly joined as a sponsor of the TEDx event hosted by Makerere University Business School. The gathering, held at the Protea Hotel in Kololo, celebrated the TED mission of sharing “ideas worth spreading” by bringing together bold thinkers and innovators.
Organized by Matthew Ainembabazi, the TEDx Makerere University Business School event carried the theme “The First Stone”, blending powerful talks with performances to inspire deep reflection and meaningful dialogue.
The speaker lineup was truly diverse: it included global voices like Troy Sandidge, strategy hacker and co-founder of S3M, and Kimberly Bryant, an electrical engineer and the founder of Black Girls CODE. Local leaders also took the stage, such as Maggie Kigozi, Crown Beverages’ Director, alongside several emerging student entrepreneurs. Their talks ranged from business insights to technology innovations and social impact, aligning with the TED spirit.
Roke Telkom’s sponsorship emphasized its dedication to nurturing innovation and amplifying transformative ideas from Uganda to the broader world. Doreen Musiimenta, Human Resources Manager at Roke Telkom, spoke about the company’s motivation: “We are thrilled to partner with TEDx Makerere University Business School,” she said. “Events like this bring together brilliant minds and spark the conversations that can drive real change in society.”
Musiimenta added, “Ideas are the currency of progress. Our aim is to empower those ideas by giving them platforms where they can flourish.”
