UTAMU will this year begin construction on its recently acquired land which will house the university’s Main Campus. Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba, the university Chairperson Board of Directors made the announcement at a recent orientation ceremony for the newly admitted students held on 10th January 2020 in Bugolobi.
Prof. Baryamureeba thanked the Catholic Church leadership through the Kampala Catholic Archdiocese Land Board for standing with and partnering with UTAMU to establish UTAMU Main Campus.
The church leased them 20.43 acres of land on Block 82 Plot 6 Kkungu, Matugga in Wakiso District for a period of 49 years.
The construction of UTAMU main campus is planned to commence in early 2020 and the campus shall be open to students and the public in 2021.
At the orientation ceremony, he also promised the newly admitted students that in April, the university will transport all of them to visit the land and have sports games, entertainment and even invite artists as the university celebrates that milestone.
The professor assured the students that the Matugga land will house the largest Research and Innovation City in the region.
