The High Court in Kampala has sentenced Brian Bagyenda the son to the director, Internal Security Organisation (ISO) Col Kaka Bagyenda to 32 years in jail after being convicted for murdering his former girl friend, Enid Twijukye.

Bagyenda is said to have committee the offense on January 4th, 2017, at his home along Njobe road in Luzira, Brian, before dumping the deceased’ body in the Namanve forest along Jinja road.

He has today been convicted with Innocent Bainomugisha and Vincent Rwahirwe who aided him in suffocating Twijukye on bed with a pillow.

It is said that Bagyenda instructed the two to tie Twijukye on a bed before suffocating her with a pillow, accusing her wanting to end the relationship.

Evidence showed that Bagyenda paid the accomplice Bainomugisha Shs30, 000 to execute the murder and facilitate the disposal of the dead body to Namanve where it was found.

While convicting the three, Justice Moses Kazibwe noted that the ruling is based on 16 prosecution witnesses who told the court that indeed a 22year old Twijukye was suffocated to death with pillows.

The judge also ruled that there is no evidence convincing him that by the time Bagyenda killed her girlfriend he was mentally unstable.

Last month Bagyenda in his final submissions to this case, asked Justice Kazibwe, to acquit him and instead commit him to safe custody as a criminal lunatic to await a ministerial directive because at the time he is alleged to have committed this offence, he was not mentally upright.

In December 2018, Brian Bagyenda confessed to the murder and applied for a plea bargaining in the High Court seeking for a lenient sentence.
