The Minister of State for Education Department, Government of Gujarat State-India, Vibhavariben Dave has signed a memorandum of understanding with Victoria University owned by Cuty Tycoon, Sudhir Rupareria which is aimed at strengthening collaborations within the education sector.
The Minister came into the country in a company of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Anju Sharma and representative of 16 universities from Gujarat which include; Marwadi University, Ganpat University, Swarnim Startup & Innovation University, Charotar University of Science and Technology, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and The Sankalchand Patel University among others.
During the signing ceremony at Victoria University in Kampala, the Minister said that they are in the country as part of their policy to internationalise their education as well as establishing collaborative relationships with Ugandan universities in terms of research and innovations.
Vibhavariben made the remarks while presiding over the signing of a Memorandum of Understand (MOU) between Victoria University and other universities.
The delegation as well visited other universities in the country including; Makerere University, ISBAT University and Kampala University.
The Permanent Secretary, Anju Sharma said that the State of Gujarat has developed substantial capacity in education institution so that they can provide education to students outside Gujarat and India.
“The aim of this visit is looking at diversity and internationalization of Education so that there is mutual benefit to the students and the quality of education. When different education experts come together, there is guarantee for enhancing the quality of education,” Anju said.
Anju added that, “We are here to bring more internationalization of education system of our institutions and also provide opportunity to Ugandan universities and students to take benefit of the education structures in Gujarat.”
Commenting on the visit, Victoria University Vice Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Krishna N. Sharma said that the collaboration with Gujarat universities will help offer opportunities to Ugandan students to gain expertise as well as finding scholarships in India.
Prof. Krishna said that the collaborations will enhance exploration of opportunities, do joint research, joint publications, organizing joint conferences and seminars as well looking for scholarships for students.
“We are living in a global village, when we are preparing our students we don’t train them to only work in Uganda, these collaborations will open doors for those who would like to go and explore the learning environment in India. We are trying to stand on shoulders of giants so that we can be able to look further,” Krishna said.
