The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has started relocating several of its major departments to the new RR Pearl Tower on Yusuf Lule Road in Kampala, as part of efforts to improve efficiency and customer service.
According to an official announcement, the transfer from the Nakawa headquarters will happen in two stages between October 10th and 19th, 2025, with full operations at the new offices beginning on October 20th.
Among the departments moving are the Large Taxpayers Office, Public Sector and Medium Taxpayers Office, Risk and Strategy Department, and the Petroleum Division. Each unit will occupy different floors in the tower.
URA explained that the relocation is part of its broader plan to modernize tax administration and create a more comfortable and accessible working environment for both staff and taxpayers.
“Our goal is to make it easier for clients to access our services and to provide a better experience overall,” the Authority said in a statement.
The RR Pearl Tower, owned by businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia through Meera Investments Limited, is one of Kampala’s newest and most advanced office buildings. The 22-floor tower offers high-speed internet, 24-hour security, energy-efficient systems, and spacious parking.
Situated opposite the Ministry of Health, the building’s central location makes it convenient for clients visiting URA and other institutions housed there.
With this move, URA says it is reaffirming its promise to serve taxpayers better — “New location, same commitment.”
