One of the biggest surprises at this summer’s Tokyo Games is that Novak Djokovic was knocked out.

He was sent packing without him taking home a single medal.

The Serb had been targeting a Golden Slam with a win at the Olympics.

But he fell short and has been left with a sense of disappointment.

“I’m sorry that I couldn’t win a medal for my country,” Novak Djokovic said.

“I’ve lost both chances.”

“My level dropped because I’m physically and mentally exhausted, but I don’t regret coming here at all.”

“I think that everything happens for a reason and I’ve suffered painful defeats in the Games, but in big tournaments as well.”

“Those defeats have all made me stronger.”

Djokovic isn’t giving up on the Games, though. He’s already looking ahead to 2024.

“I’ll keep trying to be at Paris 2024 to fight for medals for my country,” Novak Djokovic added.

“I’ve disappointed my Serbian fans.”

“That’s sport. I gave my all, but it wasn’t enough, everything was left on the court.”

“I hope the physical consequences don’t give me problems in the US Open.”

“I’m not sure about that right now. I have no regrets; I’ve given my all.”

“You have to do that when you’re playing for your country.”
